Caman to Croker

Our U12 camogie team had a fantastic day at Caman to Croker on Monday.

The 57 seater bus pulled out the gates of the Lavey Termoneeny Centre at 10am, full to capacity with players and spectators. Mammys, daddys, grandparents and team mates all traveling to support the girls.

After a quick stop at Apple Green, the bus arrived at Croke Park in perfect time and the girls were treated to a tour of the changing rooms, warm up areas and the tunnel where Kilkenny and Waterford hurlers (and Annie Madden) had ran out just the day before.

The girls had three games- against Kilrush Co Wexford, Burgess Duharra Co Tipperary and Sarsfields Co Galway- and how they rose to the occasion! All 18 players played out of their skins, showing a tremendous display of skill and talent and winning each game comfortably. ‘A joy to watch’ – said mentor Eileen Downey.

Before they left the playing field after the final game, the girls made a wish that it wouldn’t be the last time they would play on Croke Park- lets hope that dream becomes a reality.

Credit to the Camogie Association for organising a fantastic day- one which the girls will cherish for years to come.
