Swatragh Put an End to Unbeaten League Run

A strong Swatragh second half performance left this result beyond doubt after a competitive and evenly contested first half. Swatragh were quickest out of the starting blocks; Dara McGuckin and Dervla O’Kane (2) registering early scores. Lavey quickly pulled the game back to a draw with a Teresa McElroy point and a goal from Aoife Shaw. The sides traded scores throughout the duration of the half, Bronagh Walsh pushing Swatragh into a two point lead with a well taken goal in the second quarter.

Half time score: Lavey 1-5 Swatragh 1-7

The second half was all to play for however Swatragh set out their mark early, Dara McGuckin finding the net on the first Swatragh attack from the throw in. Swatragh went on to score a further 1-9 without response, Mairead McNicoll hitting Swatraghs third goal of the game. A goal from Eilis Toner towards the end was merely consolation for the visitors as Swatragh capped off a well-deserved victory with an impressive performance, ending Laveys unbeaten start to their league campaign.

Lavey are back in action again in two weeks time where they face All-Ireland Champions, Slaughtneil.

Full time score: Lavey 2-6 Swatragh 3-17

Lavey: Niamh Gribbin, Clare McGill, Sinead McGill, Laura Scullion, Faoiltiarna Ward, Aine McGill, Eimhear McGill, Orlagh O’Kane, Teresa McElroy (0-1), Caitriona Toner, Aofie Shaw (1-3 1f), Claire Diamond, Eilis Toner (1-1), Aine Murphy, Maria Rafferty (0-1).

Camog’s Continue Unbeaten League Run

Lavey continued their unbeaten run in the league with an impressive victory against Castledawson at home on Friday evening. Castledawson hit the first score of the day, a free from Aoife Brown, however Lavey then went on a scoring spree with goals from Aine Murphy (2), Aoife Shaw and Teresa McElroy pushing Lavey into a 4-6 to 0-3 lead at half time. Castledawson had plenty of opportunities to raise the green flag themselves, however they were denied by a fine display of goal keeping from Niamh Gribbin.

Castledawson’s goal did come mid-way through the second half, from the stick of Megan Kearns, but this was merely a consolation as Lavey’s clinical finishing seen them comfortable winners.

Lavey: Niamh Gribbin, Claire McGill, Sinead McGill, Laura Scullion, Faoiltiarna Ward, Aine McGill, Lia Kelly, Teresa McElroy (1-0), Orlagh O’Kane, Claire Diamond, Aoife Shaw (1-7 1 45’), Caitriona Toner (0-1), Eilis Toner (2-1), Aine Murphy (2-2), Maria Rafferty (0-2). Subs used: Maria McGill for Lia Kelly, Katie Taylor for Caitriona Toner, Cara McGolderick for Orlagh O’Kane.

Half time Lavey 4-6 Castledawson 0-3
Full time Lavey 6-13 Castledawson 1-7

Senior Camogie League: Lavey v Newbridge

This was a high paced, high scoring game with plenty of goal action between two teams who are pitted against each other in the Championship later this season. An early penalty for Lavey was directed low to the net by Aoife Shaw, however Newbridge responded with a goal to level the scoreline again. Eilis Toner and Aine Murphy added further goals to push Lavey into the lead. Newbridge full forward Chloe Henry hit 3 points on the trot for Newbridge, keeping the home side in contention however Lavey appeared to be in control for much of the first half.

Half time score Lavey 3-4, Newbridge 1-5

The second half started much like the first with the sides exchanging goals; Aoife Shaw finding the net for Lavey and Chloe Henry for Newbridge. Nicole Nugent, Emer Stinson and Chloe Henry added further points for Newbrige, however another brace of goals from Maria Rafferty and Eilis Toner ensured that Lavey remained on top. Newbridge looked for a late goal however resolute defending from Laura Scullion and Aine McGill kept Newbridge at bay until the final whistle.

Full time score Lavey 6-8, Newbridge 2-10

Summer Camp – Registration Form

Lavey Summer Camps 2017
This years Summer Camps will be running (Mon-Thurs) from Monday 24th July to Thurs 10th August. We would encourage as many people as possible to complete their application before the camp begins so as to speed up registration on the first day.

In previous years we have received grant funding to help us to subside the cost of the camps, however, unfortunately we no longer have this funding. In order to ensure that we do not run at a deficit we have had to slightly increase the cost of the camps for this incoming year. The camps will now be £20 per week for the first or only child in the family with £15 for each sibling thereafter. Please note that this price will include a weekly trip.

We will be running two camps each day Junior Strictly P1-P7 only, (The child must have completed Primary 1 in the last academic year), Senior Camp 1st Year to 4th Year.

The Junior Camp will run from 10.00am-1.30pm and Senior Camp will run 2pm-4pm. Those attending Junior Camp will require a packed lunch (no nut products please). All children should be equipped with caps/suncream/coats/football boots etc depending on the conditions.

If there are any queries about the camp you can contact our camp coordinators Niamh Halferty on 07743432110 or Colm Murphy on 07851278955.The Summer Camp Application form can be downloaded from the following link:
